{"id":1017,"date":"2016-09-27T05:29:55","date_gmt":"2016-09-27T05:29:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.greenbelief.com\/?p=1017"},"modified":"2016-09-27T05:31:16","modified_gmt":"2016-09-27T05:31:16","slug":"pine-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greenbelief.com\/?p=1017","title":{"rendered":"Pine Time!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>as in PROTECT.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.westseattleherald.com\/2016\/09\/19\/news\/west-seattle-neighbors-putting-fight-protect\" target=\"_blank\">West Seattle neighbors putting up a fight to protect ponderosa pine<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.westseattleherald.com\/sites\/robinsonpapers.com\/files\/imagecache\/3col\/images\/wwwwestseattleheraldcom\/2016\/09\/100-ponderosa-pine.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The ponderosa pine located in the middle of the side yard of 3038 39th Ave SW isn\u2019t just any old tree.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s more than 90 years old, stretches higher than 100 feet up in the sky and has become a favorite landmark in the neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>The tree is also in imminent danger of being cut down \u2013 and has become the center of a heated debate.<\/p>\n<p>Lisa Parriott has lived across the street from what she calls \u201cthe Silent Giant\u201d for the past 24 years.<\/p>\n<p>She explained that the former owner of 3038 39th Ave SW sold his house last winter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe had this gorgeous tree on his property,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s perfectly straight, perfectly healthy and it frames all of our yards. We love this tree. It\u2019s precious to us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Parriott said that the pine has been designated an \u201cexceptional tree\u201d by the Seattle Municipal Code (SMC 25.11) and therefore protected. <\/p>\n<p>E.
